Chick-fil-A tests new menu items: Where to find them

Chick-fil-A has come up with some intriguing menu items. We’ve got the scoop on where to find the delicious food that didn’t make the chicken chain’s cut.

Chick-fil-A fans love the menu items that the chicken fast food chain currently offers. But did you know that there are some dishes that the test kitchen devised that you can’t find on today’s Chick-fil-A menus?

Chick-Fil-A shares how menu items are created

Imagine ordering Biscuit Cinnamon Rolls at your local chain. Sounds delicious, right? Alas, Chick-Fil-A shared that although the rolls are among the menu items that they tested, it didn’t survive the tests, reported Fox News.

"“Yes, if fate (and our test kitchens) had gone in a different direction, this could have been offered in our restaurants today,” Chick-fil-A revealed."

The chicken chain explained that the company is “always testing out new ideas for our menu, but only a few of these concepts actually make it to the restaurant.”

Chick-fil-A chefs Christy Cook and Shona Johnson described some of the concoctions that they tested but didn’t become permanent menu items.

Biscuit Cinnamon Rolls and more almost made Chick-fil-A menus

Take the Biscuit Cinnamon Rolls, for example, which sound delicious. These sweet rolls, covered in butter, cinnamon, sugar, and icing, were scrumptious but too challenging to repeat across the nation.

"“Even though the recipe was simple, it was surprisingly complex to make across all our restaurants,” explained Chef Cook."

Other menu items that didn’t make the cut, and the reasons they failed, include:

  • Chicken Quesadilla with chicken nuggets and cheese inside (didn’t meet speed needs)
  • Rosemary Garlic Flatbread Wrap (there were lovers…and haters)
  • Cranberry Orange Bagel with cream cheese  (too “far out there”)
