Taco Bell’s tortilla shortage is very real and very concerning

Taco Bell is running out of tortillas. Yes, really! Just how long is this tortilla shortage going to go on for and what is the world coming to?

The tortillapocalypse is here. C’mon, it’s got to be a sign that the world is ending, right? Taco Bell just can’t run out of tortillas.

But that’s exactly what’s happened, and up to this point, things have been extremely quiet about the shortage. Granted, it’s only affected a few restaurants up to this point but the problem is growing. The worst part is nobody can confirm how long this is going to go on for. According to Delish, it could continue throughout July, with normal supplies resuming on July 28.

This is going to be one long and difficult summer. So far, only locations in the U.S. are suffering from the low stock, and Taco Bell is trying to get on top of the problem. The company is working hard on replenishing the tortillas as the affected areas.

Tortillas are needed for a number of items on the menu. We’re looking at the burritos mostly, but the quesadillas and other similar items also use them. However, you can still get any item that doesn’t involve a tortilla and there are some items on the menu that will see substitutions where possible.

What’s the reason for the shortage? Well, nobody has officially confirmed this. According to a Reddit user, an employee has reportedly shared that the warehouses nationwide have run out, which is affecting the stock to the restaurants. The question is why the stock in the warehouses has run low.

This does remind me of KFC in the UK. Remember the story when stores ran out of chicken? At least Taco Bell running out of tortillas isn’t a crisis in the same way KFC running out of chicken was. There are other items on the menu at Taco Bell! KFC is just, well, chicken.
