With the mythical creature craze in full effect, it should come as no surprise that one brewing company has introduced us to Unicorn Farm IPA.
It can be hard tracking down an elusive unicorn, but sometimes we happen to get a bit lucky. And thankfully Back East Brewing understands our appreciation for these majestic creatures and have crafted a beer that is the answer to our unicorn obsession. The Unicorn Farm IPA is magic in a can and the label design just backs that idea up.
Just like these mythical creatures can be elusive, it seems that the Unicorn Farm IPA is the same way. However, it makes a lot of sense, we are talking about myths and legends after all.
For their specialty brew inspired by our love of the unicorn, Back East Brewing opted for “the rare Nelson Sauvin hop variety from New Zealand.” But it is not just the hop that makes it magical, as there is also the delicate aroma of pineapple and white wine to give this brew a balanced flavor profile.

This particular beer has a touch of bitterness that is tempered by the delicate flavors also utilized to bring this IPA to life.
The Unicorn Farm IPA is part of Back East Brewing’s year round beer list, but that doesn’t mean it is always on tap or readily available. In fact, in a post on Instagram it was clear that the beer had been off the menu for a bit, although as of June 21 it had made it a reappearance.
Having found a four pack of the Unicorn Farm IPA while visiting family in Massachusetts at the beginning of July, I can confirm that the unicorns had in fact reemerged from hiding. Here was a beer that I wanted to try just because of it’s unicorn name and appearance, but there was so much more to this brew than just the mythical nature of its name and label. Here is a beer that is fascinating as well.
