In case the chicken sandwich war wasn’t already enough, Wendy’s has entered with the Spicy Bacon Jalapeño Chicken Sandwich.

August saw the start of the spicy chicken sandwich war. Popeyes introduced The Sandwich, going head-to-head with Chick-Fil-A. Now Wendy’s has entered the war with the new Spicy Bacon Jalapeño Chicken Sandwich.

Popeyes certainly started a Twitter war, which led to the limited-edition sandwich going out of stock a month earlier than expected. Don’t worry! The Sandwich will return, but while you’re waiting, there’s a new spicy chicken sandwich to try.

Wendy’s has decided to bring the Spicy Bacon Jalapeño Chicken Sandwich. It’s just like the typical Spicy Chicken Sandwich but a million times better. It’s got Applewood smoked bacon, pickled jalapeños, fried onions, jalapeño sauce, melted cheese, and cheese sauce to top it all off. How can you say no to that?

This isn’t just going to go head-to-head with the other spicy chicken sandwiches on the market—will it be enough to beat GrubHub’s statistical favorite spicy chicken sandwich?—but will also go up against its own Spicy Chicken Sandwich and Spicy Chicken Nuggets.

There is a downside to the news. The Spicy Bacon Jalapeño Chicken Sandwich is only currently available in Canada. Hey, don’t shout at the messengers. Honestly, it’s not often the Canadians get something that we know is going to turn out to be the most popular thing on the menu. If there are some great reviews, hopefully it will come to the U.S. afterward.
