A 99-year-old tries a Big Mac for the first time

A 99-year-old man has gone his entire life without trying a McDonald’s Big Mac, but recently, he took his first bite ever of the chain’s iconic sandwich.

William Thorpe has seen quite a lot of life in the past 99 years. He’s lived through World Wars, the rise and fall of the USSR, the terrible invention of Kids Bop, and a whole lot more. There is probably nothing more than this 99-year-old from the UK hasn’t experienced; but one thing that he hasn’t done in his long, glorious life on this planet is eating a McDonald’s Big Mac.

That changed recently.

According to Metro, Thorpe’s care home brought a “wishing tree” for its residents. Thorpe’s wish? To try a fast food item for the first time. So, when the home manager noticed Thorpe’s request, he went through numerous fast food places from Domino’s to Burger King.

Thorpe settled on McDonald’s because he had yet to try a Big Mac. So, Thorpe and one of his 80-year-old friends tried a Big Mac for the very first time, and to add more feels to an already emotional story, the whole experience was caught on video, which you can click here to watch

Thorpe loved the Big Mac, especially the secret sauce, and the entire video is just so cute to watch! In addition to trying the Big Mac, the couple also tried Domino’s, Burger King, Krispy Kreme, and more fast food items for the first time, and watching their reaction will seriously make your day a whole lot better.

When we first came across the story, we couldn’t stop tearing up at the sheer beauty of Thorpe trying his first-ever Big Mac. It may not mean much to us, but to Thorpe, it’s a memory that will stay with him forever — and that is the true beauty of it all.
