Which menu items at On the Border are your least and most favorite to order? Let’s look at the winners and losers on the menu!

On the Border Mexican Grill & Cantina has many delicious menu items that keep us coming back for more. But there are also some that don’t even deserve to be part of the menu! Which are your least and most favorite?

When it comes to On the Border food, I love it. I have several favorite meals that I keep coming back for, and their tableside guacamole is delicious and worth a trip to the restaurant alone! However, some of their food doesn’t even compare to their better plates.

In fact, I would petition for select dishes to be cut from the menu so On the Border can only focus on greatness. Then again, to each their own taste buds! Simply because I don’t enjoy something, doesn’t mean the next person won’t, either.

Which are your favorite meals at On the Border and which have you tried and regretted? Read on to see if yours match mine!

Must-haves:

  • Tableside guacamole
  • Bowl of queso with ground beef
  • Mini street-style tacos (steak)
  • Fajitas (steak are the best)
  • Chips and salsa
  • Margaritas (any margarita)

Food to skip

  • Cheese enchiladas
  • Ground beef tacos (both soft and hard shell)
  • Anything else with ground beef
  • Burrito Bowls

Everything else can find a place somewhere in between the must-haves and the worst plates.

Need a reason for our ranking? We have several! First of all, On the Border wins at having the best appetizers, the chips and salsa are complimentary. These are one of my favorite chips and salsa combinations! The queso, so long as it’s fresh, is delicious! Don’t let them fool you by giving you watered down queso (I’ve received this in my to-go orders a couple of times, never while dining in). Ask that it is fresh and adding beef is so worth it! You also can’t go wrong with tableside guacamole.

More from Restaurants

Fajitas are the absolute best at On the Border! Nothing like those fresh tortillas and they come sizzling ready! If I don’t order fajitas, you’ll find me getting the Mini Street-Style tacos in steak! Don’t forget to get these with extra limes.

Finally, margaritas…enough said!

Then, there are those plates you’re better off skipping! The cheese enchiladas are awful. I’ve ordered these twice and both times they have been tough and chewy.

The ground beef is not good, ya’ll! Getting ground beef hard shell tacos will be one of your biggest regrets. There’s a reason why tacos and enchiladas are always part of some deal or promotion.  Whether it’s the All You Can Eat tacos or Family Bundle, these are a deal because they aren’t good and only ordered by people with no taste buds.

Sorry, but not sorry. Unless you are ordering ground beef to be added in your queso, avoid this meat. It’s also always super greasy.

Finally, there’s the Burrito Bowls. Let’s just say On the Border should leave bowls to the experts  over at Chipotle.
