Skittles is selling colorless candies to celebrate Pride Month
Skittles is celebrating Pride Month a little differently this year
Skittles is crushing the candy game, yet again. This year, in order to celebrate Pride, they have come out with colorless Skittles.
How does this celebrate all things Pride and rainbow, you may ask? Well, there’s a quote on the colorless packaging that truly says it all:
"Only one rainbow matters during Pride."
To me, this quote is so perfect. I never really thought of it in such a way like that, but after seeing the package and reading the quote that follows it, it really does tie it all together.
Skittles has a new campaign and package design to celebrate Pride
This year for Pride, Skittles is giving up their signature rainbow, but of course, you’ll still be able to taste it and feel it for that matter. I know that I never thought that I’d see the day where Skittles went colorless; however, I understand and agree as to why they are doing it.
The reason for doing so? Well, besides the obvious fact that they are celebrating Pride Month in June, this new thing is a part of their Give the Rainbow Campaign. With this also comes some other great news for the LGBTQ+ community. This delicious candy company is deciding to give back and partner with the advocacy group called GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation).
While these candies hit other countries in previous years, this is the first time that the grey candies are hitting U.S. store shelves for us. In fact, for every package sold, $1 will be donated back to the group, up to $100,00! How cool is that?
Considering that most companies will add rainbows to their products for Pride Month, it’s really a great step moving forward for Skittles to do what they are doing.
If you try these, let us know how they are and if they taste any different to the typical colorful version of the candies! What’s your favorite flavor or color of Skittles? Let us know and we’ll debate in the comments down below.
