Breakfast is no longer the most important meal of the day due to the coronavirus

The coronavirus, or COVID-19, has turned the world upside down. According to a report from CNN, we aren’t even doing breakfast how we used to! Here’s how COVID-19 has changed the fast food industry and why it has canceled breakfast.

It’s no secret that various fast food chains and restaurants have been declaring bankruptcy due to the coronavirus. Many are even shutting down their slowest locations and they try to find new ways to bring back business.

With summer in full swing, it’s the perfect time for new offers and promotions, but mornings are, apparently, still not very profitable. What gives.

What do you have for breakfast?

On your way to work or after dropping the kids off at school, you likely stopped by for breakfast. At the very least, you grabbed some coffee from your favorite coffee place. Remember the good old days of enjoying a bagel or sausage biscuit from McDonald’s as we listened to music in the car?

Well, those days seem to be long gone. The source shares that there has been a “disruption to the weekday morning routings, notably commuting to work and school, is a headwind.” What used to be a busy time for McDonald’s, for example, no longer is.

Now, most people are working from home and the majority of children are taking school online. Therefore, there’s no need to head outside for an early breakfast. Instead, we’re sleeping in a little longer and having our first meal later in the morning.

CNN also shares that fast food sales spike up right before 10 a.m. and again around 2 p.m., I guess we’re brunch people now. Brunch has always been a favorite!

What do your early mornings look like? Do you not go out for breakfast as often as you used to?
