Downton Abbey Christmas Cookbook coming out this October

While Downton Abbey hasn’t been on the air for four years and the movie came out in 2019, the hype around the show is still very much there if for no other reason than the amazing Maggie Smith memes. But now fans finally have something new to be excited about.

The Downton Abbey Christmas Cookbook is coming out soon and according to Delish, it is filled with all historically accurate recipes! I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.

More from Books

The Official Downton Abbey Cookbook was written by Regula Ysewijn and it comes out on Oct 27 which gives you plenty of time to try out some of the recipes before the holidays. You can currently pre-order it on Amazon for $31 or at Barnes and Noble for $35.

According to the book’s description, it features “a collection of classic British holiday recipes from the Edwardian era” so you can make a meal right out of your favorite period television show.

Although, since you’re making it, you’re more the Mrs. Patmore in this situation versus a Lady Mary. Whether that’s good or bad depends on who your favorite characters is.

The cookbook includes recipes like Christmas cake, coq au vin, game bird pie, anchovy eclairs (yikes), spinach balls, pheasant soup, and artichoke gratin. But it’s not just recipes! It also features stories from the show, traditions during the Edwardian era, and beautiful full-color photos for the recipes and even for some of the best moments from the series.

Now, you can make the food from the show while binge-watching the series. If you want to be really authentic, decorate your dinner table with some fancy candelabras, the “nice” plates, and the shiniest silverware you have.
