There’s a staff shortage at Chipotle, and COVID-19 is why

Chipotle is reportedly experiencing staff shortages, and you probably already know why. Yes, it’s COVID-19.
There’s a staff shortage happening at Chipotle lately, and the reason is the COVID-19 outbreak, of course.
According to Delish, the CEO of Chipotle, Brian Niccol, recently shared that many employees have caught the coronavirus. This means many are on leave or have left. Niccol continues that things won’t be getting any easier anytime soon, unfortunately.
When too many staff members become ill, it causes a large shortage of staff with little to no time to replace them.
Chipotle restaurants have increased safety protocols such as social distancing and wearing masks at all times. Niccol comments that the safety of the staff and guests is a top priority. Business isn’t terrible for Chipotle either way, they even brought back Carne Asada at select location, which is a fan favorite!
Does COVID-19 continue to affect other businesses as much as Chipotle?
In short, yes. Other restaurants are no exception to the COVID-19 outbreak. In fact, with the recent increase in coronavirus cases, things are rapidly getting worse. Many restaurants have decreased the number of people allowed in while others have returned to to-go and delivery only.

Some restaurants are being hurt more than others. An Applebee’s even declared bankruptcy. Not to mention, various local and small businesses are closing or have already closed. If you go out to eat or feel like ordering in, please remember how important it is to support small businesses.
And while this also means that some fast food chains are hiring, the jobs may only be temporary. Remember to be careful no matter what!
