Flying the friendly skies is about to be tasty and refreshing once again with the return of full beverage service on American Airlines. As Covid-19 restrictions continue to lift and lighten, companies are starting to change their policies back to the way they once were.

According to Travel & Leisure, starting on May 1 travelers in the premium cabins will be able to get full beverage service, while the rest of the plane (main cabin travelers) will begin full beverage service again on June 1.

In a recent press release from American Airlines, they made it clear that, “American’s reintroduction of beverage service is a careful and informed process to ensure everyone on board feels safe and comfortable.” With customers in mind, the airline has reached the decision that they can safely offer this service to travelers once again.

So what all does this mean? Well it means that at least in the premium cabins, passengers will be able to get alcohol, water, juice, and canned beverages as soon as May 1. However, when beverage service returns to the main cabin, alcohol will not be available right away.

American Airlines announces the return of full beverage service to their flights

While there are still mask mandates in place, which mean wearing a mask when not eating or drinking, knowing that there will be beverage service once again feels like a sign of change in the air.

Although American Airlines did not mention snacks, with full beverage service returning, we expect them to once again let us chomp away while in flight. And since Delta has already brought back their beverage and snack services, we expect most airlines to get back to full service in no time.

Maybe it’s me, but this is actually pretty exciting news for us foodies who find it hard to fly without a snack and drink in hand.
