Hell’s Kitchen: Meet the Young Guns of season 20
By D. Goodman
If you are a regular viewer of Hell’s Kitchen and love nothing more than watching Chef Gordon Ramsay scream and go off on clueless chefs, then season 20 promises to be everything you could want and more.
As we reported earlier this month, Season 20 is called Hell’s Kitchen: Young Guns and features 18 new chefs who are all under the age of 24. Like the just-completed season 19, the action takes place at the Hell’s Kitchen restaurant located in Las Vegas and was filmed in 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic shut down production of everything.
Now, I don’t know about you, but I am really looking forward to Young Guns because I love nothing more than seeing Gordon Ramsay call out the arrogance in chefs who think they are more talented than they really are. It’s the best part of any season of Hell’s Kitchen. And since all these contestants are under 24, it is almost guaranteed they have next to no experience in a real kitchen.
In other words, Hell’s Kitchen: Young Guns could be one of the most entertaining seasons we’ve seen in quite a while.
Meet the young chefs of Hell’s Kitchen Season 20
As with every season, the 18 chefs will be divided into two teams, boys on the Blue Team and girls on the Red Team. What follows is your primer for who is on what team, where they’re from and how old they are. Feel free to make your very own Hell’s Kitchen scorecard to keep track of who’s coming and going.
The Blue Team:
- Kevin Argueta, Age 21 from Los Angeles, California
- Payton Cooper, Age 21 from Lexington, Kentucky
- Sam Garman, Age 23 from Fleetwood, Pennsylvania
- Steven Glenn, Age 21 from Richmond. Virginia
- Trenton Garvey, Age 23 from Union, Missouri
- Matthew Francis Johnson, Age 24 from Duluth, Minnesota
- Antonio Ruiz, Age 23 from Great Falls, Montana
- Alex Lenik, Age 22 from Chicago. Illinois
- Jayaun Smith, Age 23 from Kansas City, Missouri
The Red Team:

- Megan Gill, Age 23 from Denton, Texas
- Ava Harren, Age 23 from Anchorage, Alaska

- Kiya Willhelm, Age 22 from Barrelville, Maryland
- Victoria Sonora, Age 21 from Longmont, Colorodo
- Emily Hersh, Age 22 from San Antonio, Texas
And there are your season 20 Young Guns. Do any of them have what it takes to win the ultimate prize and become head chef in one of Ramsay’s restaurants? Will they fold under the incredible pressure? How long will we have to wait to see someone break down in tears?
Hell’s Kitchen: Young Guns arrives on Monday, May 31 at 8 PM on Fox.
