Foodie podcasts present a fountain of information. That’s only if you’re listening to the right ones, though. Now these days, there sure are a lot of great podcasts, but we’ve decided to look at seven specifically that I feel are primo listening when it comes to everything ‘foodie,’ and these seven always have what foodies want and cherish.

For foodies, food is life. That may seem like a blatant understatement, but it’s true. Foodies not only crave the end product—the food—but they crave the knowledge behind food, i.e., what it takes to make it, how various restaurants perform on the market, and of course the lives of celebrity chefs and their rise in the food industry.

Check out these 7 foodie podcasts that’ll be sure to satisfy your little foodie hearts

Food Non-Fiction

To give you an idea about this podcast, just take a specific look at their latest installment, episode number 72. In this episode, they look at the story behind substitute meat products. The episode is extremely easy to listen to (as are other episodes on their podcast site, and are extremely informative to boot.

I’ll Drink To That

And hey…what about the vine? What foodie worth his or her salt doesn’t know which wine to pair with which meal? It’s super important at a restaurant and when preparing a meal for friends and family, and this podcast will help you get there in a jiffy, for sure.

Levi Dalton, the host, is a former Sommelier, and with that being said, we can rest assured he knows his business. He speaks with a non-arrogant authority on the business of everything wine and his podcasts are a pleasure to listen to. He has guests that are both “famous and knowledgeable” in the industry, as his site states.

You should definitely check this one out.

Green Eggs and Dan

Comedian, Dan Ahdoot talks food in this podcast, specifically food, life and the concept that ultimately, “you are what you eat.” He has an array of entertaining guests that make this podcast hilarious and informative, and besides, shouldn’t food and laughter go together?

“Eat, drink and be merry,” after all.

A Hungry Society

This one is definitely interesting and it offers a wide range of perspectives, as this one offers listeners 70 different shows and tons of insights into the industry we all know and love.

This one is produced in partnership with the Heritage Radio Network. There are a total of 72 episodes at the time of this writing, and plenty of different chefs, food writers and perspectives to choose from.

Doughboys

Mike Mitchell and Nick Wiger, two comedians, sit down and talk chain restaurants. Another blending of comedy and food, and as I stated earlier, a perfect pairing after all…like a dessert wine with say a wonderful crème brûlée?

I don’t know which of these two would be the crème brûlée, but they are indeed hilarious and they talk about a massive subject of importance to foodies the world over.

Who said foodies only have obsessions with everything haute gamme? They sure don’t, as foodies love fast food chains, and if you do, Guilty Eaters, then this podcast is certainly for you. Just try not to listen with your mouths full; these two will have you laughing in stitches soon after they get rolling.

Gastropod

This podcast will awaken your inner scientist and if you want to learn about the science behind food and other trends right now in food and other endeavors, this is the podcast for you.

To see what we mean, just take a look at their most recent podcast and you know what I mean by other trends and endeavors…

But, they get behind the surface of your favorite foods and the industry overall. Very interesting if you’re into discovering all there is to know about certain topics—many related to food.

An interesting recent episode found on their list of podcasts, they answer the eternal question: Bottled Water vs. Tap? They have published authors to back up their info. An interesting listen for sure.

But what could you expect with a podcast slogan that states: “Gastropod looks at food through the lens of science and history.”

Hosted by  Cynthia Graber and Nicola Twilley.

The Sporkful

And speaking of catchy slogans, their slogan over at The Sporkful states: “It’s not for foodies, it’s for eaters.”

But trust me when I tell you, it’s so for foodies. You will definitely love this podcast. Informative and entertaining, it absolutely belongs on this list. It is hosted by Dan Pashman.

In a recent episode, they had Jake Cohen, author of “Jew-ish: Reinvented Recipes From A Modern Mensch.” The book translates classic recipes for what the podcast description refers to as the “Tik-Tok Age.”

Another episode I particularly liked recently was: Why Actors Never Actually Eat In Movies.

This podcast has won Best Foodie Podcast at the James Beard Awards, Webby Awards and the Saveur Awards.
