Today at Guilty Eats, we’re taking a special look and ranking the 18 Milano cookie flavors offered on their website. Milano cookies are a product of Pepperidge farm, and have been around since 1956.

Let’s face it: Milano cookies have been there for us. In good times, when snacking on them meant a celebration of sorts, to festively celebrate a promotion, a match won in sport, or in my case, a publication of an article, story or novel.

We all have our reasons to celebrate for sure, and to that I say: “Hip, hip, dear readers. Hip, hip!”

But Milano cookies have also been there in times of sadness, depression and turmoil; they’ve been that comforting factor that perhaps only a warm afghan on a terribly cold day can provide…in essence, comfort food, dear readers.

Be it a bad break-up, or even a demotion, a loss of a job, or in my case, a rejection (even career writers still get them, believe it or not).

So here’s to celebrating the cookie that’s been there for us, through thick and thin…let’s rank all 18 of the flavors of Milano cookie

Interesting fact: Did you know that Pepperidge Farm once sued Trader Joe’s because Trader Joe’s, at one time, released and offered a cookie way too similar to Milano cookies?

18. Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Milano Cookie

Okay, so I have complained about dark chocolate before. But I can’t help it, folks. Why does something that has to be sweet, taste so bitter? It’s a conundrum I’ve been trying to solve since I was a kid, when my mum tried to force upon me the importance of After Eights after a heavy meal.

I don’t want it!

And it’s a conundrum I no longer wish to solve.

I understand that there are those that do love their dark chocolate and to them I say to each his/her own.

17. Mint Milano Cookie

Which brings us to the dreaded mint flavor. Not a fan of mint in dessert. As far as I’m concerned, that peppermint and spearmint flavor belongs in three things: 1-Mouthwash, 2-Toothpaste, and 3-Sugarless Gum.

16. Candy Cane Milano (seasonal option)

Seeing that the last entry was basically my anthem vs. everything mint, I’d assume we can understand that a candy cane flavored cookie wouldn’t fall in my good graces either…hence these three in the bottom three of today’s list.

15. Double Dark Chocolate Milano

Oh man. Dark Chocolate is bad enough, but double?!

14. Dark Chocolate Milano

Oh, mercy!

13. Orange Milano

Now we’re getting in the better portion of the Milano flavors. Because if you ask me, I’ll quote good old Carlton Banks from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air: “I’m more of a Tutti Frutti man, myself.”

This one isn’t the best of the fruit flavors, but does remind me somehow of orange marmalade on toast, which is one of my favorite things.

12. Salted Caramel Milano Cookie

Who doesn’t love caramel? As far as I’m concerned, caramel is very much like bacon, and adding caramel (again, like bacon) to anything is a license to print money.

11. Toasted Marshmallow Milano

Decent and worth your time if you are indeed craving marshmallow. Not as good as roasting them over an open flame, however.

10. Lemon Milano Cookie

Ah…more of that epic fruitiness we love. Lemon sure hits the spot.

9. Milk Chocolate Milano

Now as far as chocolate is concerned, milk chocolate is certainly the way to go.

8. Raspberry Milano Cookie

One of the better fruit flavors, as far as Milano cookies are concerned.

7. Irish Cream Milano

Whoa! Now Irish Cream can hit the spot in many ways. I’m sure many of you have tippled a wee bit of the Irish Cream after a long, hard day, but trust me, these cookies will very much do the same thing—without the after buzz, of course.

6. Double Milk Chocolate Milano

See Number 9—the more the merrier.

5. Coconut Milano Cookie

Coconut added to sweets is pure heaven, friends. I’m sure you agree. But if you don’t, we’re all friends here at Guilty Eats and your opinions are worth a bunch to us.

4. Banana Milano (seasonal option)

It’s a shame this one is only seasonal, which I cannot say about the seasonal candy cane flavor, quite obviously. This one reminds me of a banana cake I used to get at this little bed and breakfast in Western Québec. The taste of these brings me back to a weekend I spent there, working on a novel…these and tea my only company.

I used to spread butter on that cake after having it warmed a tad first.

3. Caramel Macchiato Milano

These ones certainly up that caramel flavor, and are a million times better than the aforementioned Salted Caramel.

2. Strawberry Milano Cookie

The greatest fruit flavor of all when looking at the Milano cookies, for sure.

1. Pumpkin Spice Milano (seasonal option)

The mesmerizing, enigmatical flavoring known as pumpkin spice; it’s placement on this list should show you that I hold it in high regard indeed.

These are seasonal only, like two others on this list, but the fact that we can’ get these year round is the biggest tragedy of all.

Next. Cold Brew vs. Lattes: Which caffeine fix is the best?. dark

So how about you, dear readers and Guilty Eaters? Which flavors do you love? Agree with me, or are you more of a dark chocolate fan after all? Let us know.
