New Kencko Bowls Help You Get Your Fruits and Veggies
By Nancy West
Are you getting the CDC-recommended 1 ½ to 2 cups of fruit and 2 to 3 cups of vegetables per day? Since only 1 in 10 adults are, it’s very likely you’re not. Plant-based food company kencko is working to change this. The subscription based company is known for their smoothies and gumdrops. However, the company recently launched their new bowls.
Kencko, which means ‘health’ in Japanese, was founded by Tomás Froes in 2018. He began creating the company’s signature smoothies to help him get his recommended fruit and vegetable servings. By flash freezing fruits and veggies at their peak, the nutrients are preserved in the produce and pulverized into powder for packaging and sale. The consumer then mixes the powder with water or milk to make a smoothie.
All you have to do is add water to one of kencko’s new bowls for a complete plant-based meal!
Using the same freeze drying technology, the company has most recently introduced bowls to their product line. Registered dieticians and chefs helped create the five different flavored bowls: Wild Mushroom Cousotto, Mediterranean “Couscous”, Beetroot Soup, Minestrone and Lentil Dhal. The plant-based bowls are made with organic ingredients and no artificial additives. They are shelf stable and only require the addition of hot water to create a nutritious meal. These are perfect for work lunches since they are so easy to prepare.
Not only does kencko produce high quality plant-based food products, but the company is also putting efforts into reducing their environmental impact. They are working to keep production waste to a minimum, eliminating single-use plastics and trying to use regional distribution centers when shipping products.
I was able to sample the five different bowl varieties and the Beetroot Soup and Minestrone were some of my favorites! If getting most of your recommended fruit and vegetable servings for the day in one meal isn’t incentive enough to give kencko products a try, the ease of making these bowls should be. Orders placed at launch come with a free insulated bowl and spork, which makes it convenient for packing for work.
If you are interested in trying these new kencko bowls, smoothies or gumdrops, visit the company website. They are only available online via a subscription, but you can cancel at any time. They ship throughout the entire United States and select locations internationally.
