Burger King is testing new Churro and Mozzarella Fries
By D. Goodman
Ah the french fry. The joke of fast food restaurants such as Burger King. Whenever you want to imply someone’s job is a menial one you simply have to say “You want fries with that?” and most people understand what you’re talking about.
But give Burger King credit. Not only have they greatly improved the quality of their fries, making then crispier and tastier then longtime rival McDonald’s, but they are starting to think outside the french fry box as it were.
Because word on social media is that the chain is giving a test run to a couple new items that may give the whole concept of what constitutes a french fry a run for the money. And one of them is something that has already been available in other countries for a long time and fans have been pleading to bring here to the States.
Mozzarella and Churro Fries part of Burger King “Fries Your Way” campaign.
The new items are Churro Fries and Mozzarella Fries, and they are scheduled to be given a test run in Burger King locations in Columbus, Ohio starting February 13. Both are part of a new “Fries Your Way” promotion that takes their longtime fast food slogan and gives it a fresh coat of paint.
Mozzarella Fries should be self explanatory for anyone who has had mozzarella sticks at a bar or restaurant. Just put them in a french fry container and boom, you have Mozzarella Fries. Churro Fries, which switch out classic french fries for churros, is something new for American pallets to try.
They have been long available in other parts of the world but have never been made available in the United States. Which is odd considering how much we love the dessert. But it seems that finally, after much too long, churros are going mainstream.
The new test items will be available in four, eight and twelve piece options but no pricing has been revealed yet. So if you live in Columbus and what something different with your Whopper, Burger King now has some new options for you.
