As we enter the final day of 2024, it is safe to say that it was a big year when it came to the food/drink realm. That said, before we enter the new year, here are five releases that will be remembered as a few of the biggest.
Oreo Coca-Cola
If you'd told me that Oreo and Coca-Cola would team up before this year, I would've said you were crazy. But that's exactly what happened with a collaboration nobody saw coming. While the cookies had a unique flavor, the beverage captured the contrast between the creamy filling of the Oreo and the iconic taste of Coca-Cola.
Chick-fil-A Banana Pudding Shake
Sometimes, the best releases are things that are re-released. That's exactly what happened with Chick-fil-A’s Banana Pudding Shake. After 13 years, it made its triumphant return and was instantly met with rave reviews. However, the Peppermint Chip Milkshake will remain undefeated in my book when it comes to Chick-fil-A shakes.
Sonic's Buttery Brew
Eerily similar to the Butterbeer that can be found at Universal Studios, the Buttery Brew at Sonic is a tasty option that is a solid alternative. Formulated with Barq's Rootbeer and caramel and sweet cream flavors, it is no secret that the drink was one of the better ones out there in 2024.
Shirley Temple 7UP
If there's one drink that both kids and adults can agree on, it's a Shirley Temple. 7UP captured that magic with a soda inspired by the popular drink — and it didn’t disappoint.
Starbucks Cran-Merry Orange Refresher
Just as the year was winding down, Starbucks gave us a gem with its holiday-themed Cran-Merry Orange Refresher. Not only did it pack the caffeine needed to power through early mornings, but it also offered the choice between lemonade or coconut milk. Though it was a bit tart, I preferred it with lemonade.
