Carvel and Cinnabon are well-known franchises for all things sweet and delicious. Soft serve sundaes and warm, gooey cinnamon rolls are beloved treats in my house. Now imagine, taking the best of both of these brands and combining them into one concept. You don’t have to dream too hard, because GoTo Foods has already done the unthinkable and will soon be debuting Cinnabon Swirl.
For those unfamiliar with GoTo Foods, they are the parent company of iconic food brands including Auntie Anne’s®, Carvel®, Cinnabon®, Jamba®, McAlister’s Deli®, Moe’s Southwest Grill®, and Schlotzsky’s®. Arriving soon is Cinnabon Swirl, the company’s first original concept.
As I mentioned, my family loves Carvel’s soft serve. We also tend to have one of their ice cream cakes at most family celebrations. And can I share how much we love their shakes and flying saucers? However, since we don’t have a Cinnabon nearby, our consumption of the warm baked cinnamon rolls and cool, blended Chillatas is unfortunately not that frequent. But we still enjoy these tasty treats when we get the opportunity to indulge.
The new concept, Cinnabon Swirl, will be combining the best of Carvel and Cinnabon for an exclusive mashup of treats. In a press release shared with Guilty Eats, Jennifer Holwill, the Executive Chef at Cinnabon noted: “Consumers are increasingly seeking new and unique irresistible desserts, and Cinnabon Swirl was conceptualized to meet this evolving demand. Cinnabon Swirl is the ultimate sweet escape, where the magic of our world-famous baked goods meets the creamy delight of Carvel soft serve, giving consumers an experience and menu items that they won’t find anywhere else.”

Cinnabon Swirl will have a signature menu of treats including a Bonini, where Carvel vanilla soft serve is stuffed in a Cinnabon roll. The Cinnabon Swirl Sundae features warm Cinnabon Classic Roll centers chopped and topped with Carvel vanilla soft serve and a caramel drizzle. There are also Ice Cream Sandwiches, where Carvel soft serve is swirled between freshly baked chocolate chip cookies.
Soft serve lovers will have an excuse to visit the store frequently, as there will be two limited edition soft-serve flavors featured every month. Birthday Cake and Cold Brew are the debut flavors.
The first Cinnabon Swirl location is scheduled to open sometime in May in Hillsboro, Oregon. Later this year, additional stores are planned to open in Peoria (Arizona), Kennesaw (Georgia), and Pasadena (California). Altogether, more than 30 store locations are in the pipeline. While I may have to wait a bit, I'm hopeful that a Cinnabon Swirl will open soon in the Northeast!
