National Doughnut Day Deals: Krispy Kreme, Dunkin, and more

Today, Americans across the nation rejoice as one of the most popular food-related holidays is upon us. Since its founding in 1938, National Doughnut Day, aka National Donut Day, has given doughnut fans a chance to celebrate one of the best dessert delicacies on the first Friday of the month.

This year is no different, as many donut chains are celebrating with special deals in honor of the holiday. Below is a list of the few deals to take advantage of for National Doughnut Day:

• Duck Donuts is offering a free cinnamon sugar doughnut with no purchase necessary.
• Dunkin' Donuts is offering a free classic donut with the purchase of a beverage.
• Krispy Kreme is offering a free doughnut of choice with no purchase necessary, excluding the limited edition ones.
• Shipley Do-Nuts is offering a free glazed do-nut with any purchase.
• Voodoo Doughnuts is offering a limited-time-only "Pink Raised Glazed" Dozen for $10.

In addition to these donut deals, it is best to check your local locations as well. Many non-chain spots will also have special offers for the holiday, so be sure to stop by the ones you enjoy. I for one, will be hitting the national restaurants and local ones to satisfy my doughnut fix.

I look forward to this holiday each year, as there is something special about each bite of the doughy goodness that makes up a doughnut. And much like Homer Simpson, I am a sucker for a good strawberry frosted doughnut.
