The Great British Bake Off moved from the BBC to Channel 4 in 2017 and it’s time for the first season. Here’s everything we know so far about the series.
In 2017, The Great British Bake Off shifted from the BBC to Channel 4. It was a move that meant co-judge Mary Berry left the series. Don’t worry about her though, as she’s doing the Britain’s Best Home Cook series now.
But what about the new The Great British Bake Off? When can we expect it to come back and who is taking Berry’s place? Also, what about the hosts and other judges?

When will The Great British Bake Off air?
There’s no confirmed return date yet. Channel 4 doesn’t often release its dates too far in advance—just look at its child network E4 and not releasing Supernatural Season 13’s premiere date until weeks before. British TV just doesn’t work the same way as American TV. We don’t get to find out about premiere dates month in advance.

However, the series premiered in late August on Channel 4 last year. The network will likely follow the same pattern, so the final is around October.
Who’s presenting and who’s judging?
Berry wasn’t the only one to step away from the series after the most to Channel 4. Former co-hosts Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins also decided to quit the series. Comedians Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig took over the reins and both will return to present The Great British Bake Off 2018.
While it’s not confirmed, comedian Jo Brand is expected for the after show, which is titled An Extra Slice.
As for the judges, well, Paul Hollywood is still with the series. He’s the only person who has been on the series from the start and made the move with Channel 4.
Last season, he was joined by restaurateur, cookery writer, and novelist, Prue Leith. She will return for another season.
Who are the contestants?
So far, nothing is known about the contestants. However, they will have been chosen by now. Hopefuls put their names in the hat by January 7 and the 12 picked were contacted back in March. We will likely find out soon about who the contestants are.
