Yes that’s right, McDonald’s French Fries might be able to cure baldness according to a new study, but like everything else, it’s not as simple as it sounds!

You can’t help but laugh at some of things scientists have found over the years. Facts that you would never have dreamed of have been found by the men in white coats, and today it’s to do with McDonald’s fries and baldness.

According to The Journal Biomaterials a chemical that is used when cooking McDonald’s fries can aid towards the growth of new hair. Unfortunately, it’s never as easy as it sounds.

It’s not as simple as popping into your local McDonald’s and asking for a portion of fries. The chemical that the journal refers to, dimethylpolysiloxane, which is the one used when cooking the fries, acts as a base layer in the hair growing process. Meaning the chemical in the fries is not the one responsible for the hair growth, only in aiding the process.

So eating the fries alone will not see your hair grow to length you have never seen before. You need to be using the other treatments that the Journal refers to as well.

Another minor hiccup is the amount of this dimethylpolysiloxane used in the McDonald’s cooking process is nowhere near enough. The amounts used are safe for consumption, but probably not enough for growing hair. You would no doubt need to eat so many that it would cause a whole host of other problems.

Ultimately, although there may be a connection to McDonald’s fries and curing baldness it is just that, a connection, nothing more. Eating the fries, no matter how many, will not cause your hair to start growing.

It would be wonderful if it did, and hopefully one day eating certain foods will do such a thing, but not today.
