McDonald’s has opened a new store in Chicago and if you think you’ve walked into an Apple store, don’t worry, many others have felt the same.

It looks like McDonald’s is taking some cues from Apple on how to create a flagship store. The new fast-food joint in Chicago has the tables and ordering kiosks as you would expect, along with 70 trees on the ground level. Yes, you’ve read that right!

This is classed as the new megastore, which isn’t going to be the look for all. However, it certainly looks like the fast food restaurant is looking to get rid of the, well, “fast food” label. As well as kiosks and indoor trees, this Chicago joint is offering table service.

Table service isn’t completely out of the ordinary, but it isn’t offered everywhere. When I have tried it, it’s been certainly much easier with two kids, so certainly the way for these larger stores to go. Plus, it keeps jobs open for humans and we all love that idea, right? No robots completely taking over the world just yet!

As well as the 70 trees, the new building is covered with windows to make sure as much of the natural light shines through as possible. It’s 19,000-square-foot of seating, brightness, and comfort.

According to Business Insider, CEO and president Steve Easterbrook said that it’s time for the McDonald’s restaurants to symbolize how the company is building a better community.

Not all places are going to look exactly the same, but table service and kiosks are about to become the norm, along with a more sustainable blueprint. Will it be enough to keep the chain going?
