McDonald’s is planning a makeover and it’s about time to

It’s about time really, McDonald’s are planning to refurbish and modernizing most of their restaurants by the year 2020.

It’s something that has been long overdue for McDonald’s but the moment has finally arrived. Refurbishment and modernization is planned for most of their restaurants with the aim to have the work done by 2020.

This news follows the milestone the Big Mac burger reached making you wonder if this had any impact on the decision. But none the less, the plans have been laid out and they are certainly changes that customers will appreciate.

According to McDonald’s the planned changes will see their restaurants transform by:

  • Having self-order digital kiosks in place
  • Counters to be remodeled to allow for new table service
  • New digital menu boards both inside the restaurant and at the drive through
  • McCafé counters to expand and larger display cases to be put in place
  • Curbside pick-up through the mobile order and pay service are to be given designated parking spots.
  • Dining rooms to be modernized with locally and globally inspired decor, along with new furniture and exterior designs

It will be a welcome change and one that will most likely see McDonald’s continue to lead the way in the fast food industry. Fierce competition has required the chain to adapt and evolve, something that they have clearly not hidden away from.

Recently, a McDonald’s restaurant in Chicago was reported to look more like an Apple store than a fast food joint. It makes you wonder if this is what all of the restaurants are hoping to look like in the future.
