Amazon Go may get 3,000 more stores by 2021

Amazon is looking at an aggressive strategy to add more Amazon Go stores to the market. We could see 3,000 new stores opening within the next three years.

The world in 2021 could look very different from the one we now, especially when it comes to getting food on the go. Amazon Go currently only has three stores, but the company is looking at an aggressive strategy that could see 3,000 new stores opening within the next three years.

CEO Jeff Bezos saw a gap in the market around lunchtimes and the way people want to pay for food. Amazon Go is the first cashier-less store, where people scan their phones on the way in and everything is charged automatically to your credit card. There’s no need to scan food at a counter to pay for it.

New York is the latest city looking to add another Amazon Go store, as it’s already been a success in Seattle. Amazon Go offers a range of on-the-go food options, as well as pre-prepared meal kits for people to make at home. It could put the likes of Subway and 7-Eleven at risk, but there is an argument that there’s room for everyone. It all depends on what you want to eat on the go.

Regardless of those arguments, Amazon is looking at gaps in the market. Bezos doesn’t want to do something that everyone is doing and that’s why Amazon Go has been so successful to start with. It’s innovative and offers a solution to a problem. Another 3,000 in the next three years makes sense, don’t you think?
