IHOP goes Italian with their new cannoli pancakes

IHOP is living up to their name as the International House of Pancakes with their new Italian themed pancake flavor – the cannoli pancake.

IHOP is the place to go if you want delicious breakfast foods and perfect pancakes every time. But, what makes the restaurant so special is the fact they offer so many different flavor combinations. There are crepes and pancakes in any number of flavors, including international options.

In honor of the international portion of their name, IHOP has introduced two new pancakes, a Mexican Churro pancake, and an Italian Cannoli pancake. And while we are certainly excited for the churro option, it is definitely the cannoli option we are here for.

As an Italian who grew up enjoying cannolis on special occasions, I am here for this new entry into the international flavor of pancakes. And if these end up tasting like a real cannoli, then these may become my new favorite treat ever.

In order to make the shell, real buttermilk pancakes are rolled up, and then stuffed. And what are they stuffed with? The filling for these pancakes is chocolate chips and a sweetened ricotta, which means this really is the stuffing you find in a cannoli. But that’s not all that makes these pancakes magical, they are also topped with more chocolate chips, as well as crushed pieces of a real cannoli shell, and finally whipped cream.

Mind you, this does not sound like the kind of pancakes that you are getting for breakfast, but if you are down for a sweet treat after dinner, these new cannoli pancakes are definitely the perfect choice.

As I mentioned before, there is also a Mexican Churro pancake as well. And that pancake once again features the classic buttermilk pancakes that are then layered with a spread made of cinnamon, as well as mini churros, and even an icing made of cream cheese. Of course, this sweet treat wouldn’t be complete with a topping of whipped cream.

If you are like me, you likely want to try both of these delicious sounding treats (at least once). So, why not grab a friend or two, head over to IHOP and order both the Italian Cannoli and the Mexican Churro pancakes.
