10 best pizza toppings ever, ranked

We all love pizza, right? So how about we rank the 10 best pizza toppings ever? I mean, hey, why not since we’re stuck in the house?

When it comes to pizza we all have our different preferences when it comes to pizza toppings! Some of us love the traditional pepperoni pizza, and others go for more “exotic” offerings such as salmon and pineapple (which sounds gross just thinking about it. Ugh!). Which one is your favorite?

This list will probably excite WWIII, but since we’re all stuck in the house and practicing social distancing, we decided to rank the top 10 best pizza toppings. As always, we know that some will not agree with this list, and we understand pizza toppings are a very, very delicate subject. However, I think we can all agree that salmon and pineapple should never go together in any setting, especially on a pizza.

10. Cheddar Cheese

Have you ever had cheddar cheese baked into the regular cheese? Oh my God, if you haven’t tried it, then you are seriously missing out on this delightful topping.

9. Green Peppers

There is something about green peppers that just hits right when it’s on a pizza. Maybe it’s the marriage of the cheese and peppers along with the other toppings? I don’t know. However, what I do know is the green pepper is an underrated part of a pizza topping and one that should get its due praise.

8. Ham

OK, when I was growing up, there was a pizza I used to love when my mother ordered it. It was a bacon, cheddar, and ham, pizza. The ham was the game-changer on that pizza, baked into the cheddar cheese and giving the pizza a succulent flavor. If you haven’t gotten ham on a pizza, try it while you’re stuck in quarantine.

7. Bacon

Bacon makes everything better. Don’t argue with us, it just does, OK?

6. Onions

You will have your detractors that say onions don’t belong on a pizza, and I will humbly respect your opinion. However, I will also counter that you haven’t truly become a pizza savant without throwing onions on that pizza.

Once we’re all out of the timeout, go out into the public and try to tell someone that black olives aren’t one of the best toppings on a pizza, and watch everyone give you the most powerful stank eye imaginable.

Personal admission: At one time, I was a stern critic of putting chicken on a pizza. Then I tried it, and my mind was instantly blown. Not only does chicken belong on a pizza, but it is one of the best toppings that you could ever put on a pizza, period!

Sausage is one of the most traditional toppings on a pizza, and you know why? Because it is one of the best toppings on a pizza, that’s why! It would be number one if it wasn’t for…

The pepperoni is the supreme of pizza toppings. It is the king, the topping all toppings look up to. Yes, you can order a pizza without the pepperoni, but ask yourself, do you really want to do that to yourself? Do you really want to eat a pepperoni-less pizza? See how you just made the “certainly cannot” face? That’s what makes the pepperoni pizza king, my friend.
