Christina Milian talks to Guilty Eats about her new partnership and the holidays
In an interview with Christina Milian, we talked about the holidays, food, and her new partnership with Autotrader and Kelley Blue Book. From her favorite holiday dish to what inspired her to partner in a Beignet truck and of course her new Holiday in Drive partnership, we had the chance to learn even more about the actress who we consider a “Queen of Christmas movies.”
First, we have to talk about Milian’s partnership with Autotrader and Kelley Blue Book. To help people who want to see their family and friends safely this holiday season, the two companies worked together to offer a limited edition “Ugly Sweater” inspired face mask and steering wheel cover. Not only are these items festive, but they are perfect for being safe heading into the holidays.
And if you are looking to snag one of the masks, which lights up, or the steering wheel cover, there is currently a giveaway happening at the Holiday in Drive website. But we had to know from Christina Milian directly about this partnership and which piece was her favorite (the mask or steering wheel cover).
Christina Milian answers our questions about food, holidays, and her partnership
Guilty Eats: What inspired you to partner with Autotrader and Kelley Blue Book this year?
Christina Milian: “I think this year has really opened up our eyes to finding the new normal and finding fun ways to kind of just keep the spirit alive of like life and happiness and family. And of course, now we have the holidays coming up. So with the holidays, we’re finding ways to go on vacations, or finding new ways to do things that are going to keep us entertained. Whether it’s in a really small group, or just one on one, or with our family, a lot of my friends have been going on a lot of road trips, and I myself have gone on a road trip even in past summer. And I’m looking forward to, in this coming holiday, finding alternatives, whether it’s going camping, or you know, just going on a road trip with a really good playlist and with the rest of the family or to just see Christmas lights, it’s those little things that we have to find ways to materialize.
So with Kelley Blue Book and Autotrader, I’ve relied on them for years, whether it’s servicing my vehicles or something else, and they found ways for people to feel comfortable, rather than making it any more difficult for for us to figure out ways to take a road trip or to service our car. So I love the fact that we’re partnering with them right now and doing a giveaway on Holiday in Drive to give away a really fun light up mask and these steering wheel covers. They have this whole theme of the ugly sweater thing. And who doesn’t love the ugly sweater? I don’t know who started the ugly sweater theme, but whoever did, it became like iconic and part of the holidays permanently. So you know, they put a little twist on the usual and made something fun for everybody to look forward to.”

GE: Speaking of the holidays, do you have a favorite food dish that you love this time of year?
CM: “I love like turkeys. I love my turkey or my mom’s. And then I really love like collard greens. Collard greens, if they’re made right, I can just eat a ton of them and go on for days. And cranberry sauce but honestly, it all goes together. Mac and cheese, cranberry sauce, collard greens, and turkey. Those are like a special one. That’s the one favorite thing all glued together.”
GE: And we love the fact that you have a Beignet truck, so I have to ask, what inspired you to start that?
CM: “First off my best friend, we used to roommate together and we wanted to start a business together. We wanted to have like a bakery. At first because we used to call our house, the sugar shack, we were like how cute would it be to have a bakery. And then like we didn’t think about it. She’s from Louisiana. And so I would go visit her in Louisiana, and we always got Beignets. And then one day it just clicked and we’re like, why don’t we just do beignets and nothing else, just beignets and coffee.
It took about a year of creating the business, finding our best recipe. You know, eventually we were gonna open up a store and instead decided to do a food truck. And it was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made. We now have two food trucks, we have everybody interested in franchising, and that stuff is really good. But the most important thing is the beignets are amazing. And we get nothing but compliments from everybody from Kim Kardashian to Beyonce to you businesses that have had us come in and serve them. It’s been an honor to make really great beignets for people and see people so happy.”
GE: I know that you’ve been filming abroad, so have you found a dish or something overseas that you really enjoy? One that is a favorite now.
CM: First off, I love everything. I’m just a foodie, but I’m in Mauritius and Mauritius is known for these great curries and for dumplings and noodles. It’s like a great fusion of Indian and French and British and also like good Chinese food. So it’s got a lot of like Asian influence. One of the things I think I’ve come to really like, although there are so many things, is something that people make at home. It’s called salt fish rougaille. But it’s a dried salt fish, which is kind of similar to like a Cuban meal that I ate growing up called Bacalhau. But it’s in a red sauce with peppers and onions and I love it over rice and they make it here so it’s my new favorite.
In speaking with Christina Milian about the holidays, her favorite foods, and her partnership with Autotrader and Kelley Blue Book we can admit that there was definitely a lot to make us hungry and ready for the holidays. And with the new partnership, we get a chance to safely plan a road trip this season without the guilt.
