The ColdSnap allows you to make soft-serve ice cream in 90 seconds

Ice cream in the frozen section of the grocery store is great, but there’s something about soft-serve ice cream that is just so much better. It’s creamier, lighter, and tastes better. There’s a reason we all go to the ice cream shop to get a soft-serve cone during the summer.

If you’re like me and have wished you could have a soft-serve ice cream machine in your house, you might want to check out this new appliance called the ColdSnap.

Now we don’t have to go to our local ice cream place; we can make it at home ourselves with the ColdSnap, the soft-serve ice cream maker. How does it work? If you’ve used a Keurig or any other kind of single-serve coffee maker before, it’s the same idea here.

You choose the pod you want to use (which looks more like a mini soda can), flip the top open on the machine, insert it, and pull the top down.

The machine uses a pod system to ensure making soft-serve ice cream is very easy

Once that’s done, press start and wait for it to begin dispensing your ice cream into a cone, a dish, or….for the more desperate of us, your mouth.

It takes about 60-120 seconds. Pretty cool, right? Especially since normal ice cream makers take much longer to make ice cream.

Where can you buy one? Unfortunately, they aren’t for sale just yet. According to the ColdSnap website, they’ll be available in specific major cities in the first quarter of 2021, but CNET has predicted the machine won’t be out until 2022. We’ll all have to wait and see. The cost is also unknown but predictions range from $500 to $1000 with pods going for $2.50-$3 apiece.

Since this machine is the first of its kind, it’s no surprise that the price is a bit steep, but if you can swing it and you’re looking for the convenience of soft-serve ice cream in your home, it definitely looks like it’s worth the money.
