When comparing the East Coast and West Coast of the United States, there are certainly plenty of pros and cons. Whether you’re thinking about the weather or what kind of lifestyle you want to follow, it can be difficult to choose what location is just right for you. Though there are tons of fun activities to do on one side of the country in California and just as many on the other side in New York, each state brings its own charm and makes it tough to decide which part of America reigns best.
And when you’re talking fast food, such as In-N-Out, that opens up a whole other can of worms. People on the West Coast might tell you that Burgerville is the best spot to grab a quick bite, while those on the East Coast will say they can’t live without Wawa. No matter what your favorite chain restaurant is depending on where you’re located, the grass sometimes is greener on the other side. We always want what we can’t have!
In looking at some West Coast staples and reading into whether or not they’ve made their way to the other side of the country, let’s start with In-N-Out. Yes, the fast food joint started in Baldwin Park, California, but can you find locations on the East Coast, specifically New York?
In-N-Out locations
Unfortunately for those living it up at the Big Apple, In-N-Out is not located in New York, at least not in 2021. As someone who personally lives in New York City, I’ve made it a point to check out the famous fast food spot when visiting the West Coast before, as have many people I know who live on this side of the map.
And not only is In-N-Out not located in New York, but it’s not located on the East Coast at all. That’s right — In-N-Out is only in the Southwest part of the United States, and its list of locations is smaller than you might think.
According to the official In-N-Out website, the trendy fast food chain is only located in California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, and Texas! It’s a Southwest spot through and through. Though upsetting for those who want to try some “animal style” french fries out in New York, its exclusivity makes In-N-Out all the more attractive.
If you happen to be in New York and are craving a quick fast food meal, I’d recommend Shack Shack, Nathan’s Famous in Coney Island (the very first Nathan’s!), or Jollibee.
