Cereals can be the simplest meal, but at the same time, it can also be the most satisfying meal. And what’s not to love, anyways? Sweet or not too sweet, they’re mostly wholesome and when they’re not, who cares?

Everybody needs a treat every now and again, right? And why not have a treat every morning? Or perhaps even at night before bed. Any time is Cereal O’ Clock if you ask me. Join us as we take a look at 10 of the best cereals on the market today.

This snack or meal can be the absolute greatest cap to the end of a long hard day; especially if you didn’t have that much time to get in a proper meal for dinner. Sometimes a quick meal just doesn’t cut it, and your favorite bowl of cereal definitely goes a long way when the old hunger in your tummy makes itself known. Maybe, in the end, there’s nothing like it.

Which of our favorite cereals made the list of best ever

10. Cheerios (General Mills)

Okay, so Cheerios are pretty healthy. The healthiest version of this brand are the plain ones—without any sugar, honey added, just plain old oats shaped into the Os we’ve grown to love.

But Cheerios has grown into one of the biggest cereals in North America and many of their flavors are indeed epic. Of course Honey Nut Cheerios are a big seller, and I particularly love their apple/cinnamon flavor.

9. Froot Loops (Kellogg’s)

To stay on the O-shape for just a tad longer, I couldn’t stay away from this household staple. If I lean over in my office chair just a tad, I can see my pantry from my writing desk and I can clearly see good old Toucan Sam, enticing me to walk over and grab myself a bowl of these fruity goodies, that don’t really taste like any actual fruit I’ve ever eaten, but hey…they’re just so good.

8. Sugar Crisp (Post)

And speaking of loveable cereal box characters, who can forget the ever-loveable Sugar Bear?

I sure can’t. And every time I see this little guy, I can’t help but think of the cereal he peddles oh-so-well. For something sweet, but not overpoweringly so, this is a cereal that cannot be beat.

If you’re looking for just the right snack for that aforementioned cap to your day but don’t feel like defrosting the frozen cheesecake you have in the freezer, or making something a tad complicated, go for a bowl of these…heck, have two.

7. Krave (Kellogg’s)

Now talk about sweet! So, okay, this one won’t be getting any awards from the Surgeon General stating that it’s the perfect food to stave off illness and bad health, but you need a treat sometimes. Even Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson knows that much. Have you seen his epic ‘cheat meals?’

These present the most epic chewy, chocolate center imaginable in a cereal, especially when milk is added. The effect is a bite you’re not likely to forget and will definitely be going to the pantry for more.

6. Reese’s Puffs (General Mills)

It has been said that Reese’s Peanut Butter chocolate was the late, great, Elvis Presley’s favorite chocolate, and if that was true, then the King would have absolutely loved this cereal.

They don’t taste exactly like the chocolate, but OMG, do they come close. It’s definitely hard not to have a salad serving bowl full of these, folks.

5. Apple Jacks (Kellogg’s)

A guilty pleasure indeed, but what have I been saying about those guilty pleasures? A treat is undoubtedly a treat. And as we all well know, Guilty Eaters…sometimes we throw caution to the wind and just chow down, which is alright by me.

4. Crispix (Kellogg’s)

Okay, these are a tad healthier and the amazing thing about these, is that they go great in a party-mix, as the voiceover guy in that old commercial was quite fond of proclaiming.

Here, two worlds collide perfectly: rice and corn. It’s like combining Rice Krispies and Corn Flakes in one cereal.

3. Lucky Charms (General Mills)

With a slogan like: “They’re magically delicious,” is there really anything else that needs saying? And they’ve been around since March 20, 1964, so something they’re doing over at General Mills is obviously working in their favor.

I say, it’s all in the marshmallows.

2. Pops (Kellogg’s)

Here’s yet another example of when simplicity equals perfection. Unlike the aforementioned Lucky Charms, Pops isn’t packaged with any added element like marshmallows. It’s just the orbs of corn, made to taste original, sweet and perfect. Heck…they don’t even have a mascot.

And talk about slogans: “Gotta have my Pops.”

1. Cap’n Crunch (Quaker Oats Company)

These taste like nothing else I’ve ever had, and maybe that’s why I love them so much. They were my favorite cereal when I was young and they have remained my favorite cereal. What’s also interesting to add here, is that they’ve been around since 1963!

Whenever I pour milk over these, my wife says: “Those smell like Play-Doh,” and I just smile and enjoy.

“More for me, then,” I always reply. More for me indeed.
