Best Solar Eclipse Food Deals: Burger King, Krispy Kreme, More
The 2024 Solar Eclipse is almost on us! Today is the day, and depending on where you are in the path of totality, you’ll either get to see a once-in-a-lifetime astronomical event; or it’ll be too cloudy and you will cry tears of sorrow. Either way, though, there are a ton of fast food and snack deals you can take advantage of today to either celebrate or commiserate.
And while April 8 is Eclipse Day 2024, and some of these deals are a limited-time-only offer – SunChips is the most extreme, with a deal that only lasts about four and a half minutes – other deals are on all week, like Wendy’s.
So consider this your guide to the best fast food and delicious snack deals available tying into Solar Eclipse 2024.
Burger King
Burger King has one of those deals that seems more like a “yeah, we were doing a sale anyway this week” thing. Starting today and running until April 15, you can get BOGO Whoppers this week. You need to be a member of the Burger King Royal perks program, and text ECLIPSE to 251251 today to get a code for the deal. However, as mentioned you don’t have to eat two Whoppers today, you can use the code any time in the next seven days.
Krispy Kreme has a total eclipse of the doughnut with a special, appropriately named Total Solar Eclipse Doughnut, which goes away by the end of the day today. It’s an Original Glazed, dipped in chocolate icing, filled with OREO buttercream, covered in silver sprinkles and a whole OREO. You can also get a special dozen that’s half Total Solar Eclipse Doughnuts, half Original Glazed.
Sonic Drive-In
Here’s an even less limited-time offer: Sonic Drive-In is offering a Blackout Slush Float until May 5. Yes, a full month(ish) away. It includes vanilla soft-serve, blackout slush flavor (whatever that is), and galaxy sprinkles (whatever those are). The better news is that if you’re scrambling for eclipse glasses, Sonic is giving them away today with every Blackout Slush Float while supplies last.
Like Burger King, Wendy’s has a bit of a “sure, why not?” deal. All week long you can get one free small Frosty in the Wendy’s app, limited to either chocolate or orange. This offer is good until April 14.
Pizza Hut
Thanks to Pizza Hut’s “Total Eclipse of the Hut” deal, you can grab a $12 large pizza, today only. Some restrictions apply, but it’s good for Thin ‘N Crispy, Hand Tossed Pizza and Original Pan Pizza, or create your own up to 10 toppings. No code necessary, and it’s good on dine in, carry out, or order online.
MoonPie is of course getting in on the action with eclipse glasses, and a “survival pack” which includes MoonPie chocolate minis, as well as a pair of glasses.
7-Eleven
For another last-minute eclipse glasses location, head to your local 7-Eleven to snag a pair. If you’re a member of the chain’s 7NOW Gold Pass, you can get them free with any delivery. Otherwise, they’re not free, but they are where I got mine! So if my kids’ eyes turn into Slurpees, I know who to blame. You can also get a whole pizza today for only $3.
SunChips easily wins for the wildest deal of the day with their exclusive eclipse flavor that goes on sale for the duration of the totality, only. You can try to grab the Pineapple Habanero and Black Bean Spicy Gouda SunChips at SunChipsSolarEclipse.com starting at 1:33 pm CT, aka 2:33 pm ET or 11 am PT on April 8, but we’re betting these will be gone in seconds.
Jeni’s has a few promotions tying into the eclipse going on, including a line of four ice creams called Punk Stargonaut. They also have a new topping called Space Dust, which is popping rocks, and if you head to a Jeni’s scoop shop they’re free all day long.
Applebee’s
This is actually an oldie but a goodie, first introduced in 2017 by the restaurant chain. Through April 14, Applebee’s will be serving a Perfect Eclipse Margarita. Per USA Today, it features, “Patrón Premium Silver Blanco Tequila, Citrónge Orange Liqueur, plus Monin Blue Raspberry and Passion Fruit syrups, and lemon and lime.”
The best pun award goes to Raising Cane’s for their deal which finds you in the “path of toast-tality.” If you are in fact in the path of totality, you can get a free slice of Texas Toast from the chicken finger chain. In addition, Cane’s is also giving away a chance to win free Cane’s for 20 years, which is about how long you’ll live if you only eat Raising Cane’s every day.
