When looking for a cookoff challenge, head to The Kitchen
The Kitchen is the show that brings great possibilities for a cookoff challenge
In a recent survey, Mashed asked people which celebrity chef they would most want to face in a cookoff. While over 20 percent of responses in the Mashed survey chose cooking personality Sandra Lee, when I think about this question, my mind goes to a specific show on the Food Network. I think about which person from the show The Kitchen I would prefer to challenge.
Obviously, I do not believe I am in the same stratosphere as anyone who currently makes food and recipes for a living, but when considering the question, I think about two factors: people I would want to be around during a cookoff and also chefs of which I might have a fighter’s chance against. I would love to say I would want to challenge Bobby Flay or Michael Symon, but let’s be honest, they are Iron Chefs and as much as it would be fun, I would be laughed out of the building.
The Kitchen gives five options for a cookoff challenge and two are Iron Chefs

When I think about The Kitchen, I do not mean any disrespect as these are all very talented chefs. The show also has two of its own Iron Chefs in Alex Guarnaschelli and Geoffrey Zakarian. They would probably be my last choice. In case you have never watched the show the other chefs/cast members are Sunny Anderson, Katie Lee, and Jeff Mauro.
One of the things that appeals to me about challenging someone from The Kitchen is that during the show, they never take themselves too seriously. This is the type of atmosphere I would appreciate most when embarrassing myself in front of a famous TV chef.
Out of the group, I would mainly take aim at Mauro, Lee, or Anderson partially because they are not Iron Chefs and partially because they tend to present more of the approachable meals on the show. Mauro and Anderson would be a particularly tough choice because of their light-hearted nature and ability to make the type of plate I would want to eat on a weekend. Unfortunately, Mauro is no longer interested in cooking competitions, but perhaps he could be provoked.
Lee is a comfort food queen and should not be overlooked either. She can do a lot of things with carb focused meals while also being very adept with a Meatless Monday type of meal. Her creativity with vegetables is what would scare me the most.
All in all, challenging a member of The Kitchen cast would make for a fun and eventful day. All of the chefs on the show are talented and also charismatic. It would surely be a great experience for anyone looking to make a cookoff challenge.
