Charcuterie chalets are the new gingerbread houses
If you’re more of a savory person or just love a good meat and cheese plate, and always felt left out when everyone was putting together and then devouring their gingerbread houses, your time has finally come. You no longer have to suffer with the sickly sweetness of a cookie house. The charcuterie chalet is here to save the day.
That’s right, charcuterie chalets are now a thing. The house is made of cold cuts, breadsticks, crackers, and cheese. I don’t know about you but I’m already salivating. Grab some lunch meat from your grocery store and a Hickory Farms pack and go wild!

You can also add a few vegetables to the mix like cherry tomatoes and cucumbers for some red and green decorations for your festive little meat house.
If you need a few tips, you can also check out this Food Network version. They use cream cheese as glue to keep the house together, but any thick spread will work. It’s probably a lot tastier than the mortar that royal icing can turn into on gingerbread houses.

This is also a great addition to any holiday table. As a baker of all the holiday cookies for my entire family, you can only eat so many sweets during the holidays. Sometimes, you just need to shove some bread and cheese in your mouth to give your taste buds a break.

I’m not going to say this is easier than making a gingerbread house because you’re still constructing a house with food and chaos can ensue.
