Aldi, which today is among the world’s most successful discount grocery store chains, will soon mark its 100th anniversary and traces its history back to Karl Albrecht, who began selling baked goods in Essen on April 10, 1913 and founded the Aldi name by shortening the phrase Albrecht Discount. His sons Karl Jr. and Theo expanded the chain dramatically, creating 300 stores by 1960 divided between northern and southern Germany, with Aldi Nord and Aldi Sued, respectively. Today the two chains have approximately 4,300 stores nationwide and have also expanded into other countries across Europe and the USA. Aldi Nord operates in the USA under the name Trader Joe’s. Aldi has the perfect brioche for the holiday season

Brioche is one of the most delicious types of bread to ever exist. It’s eggy and buttery and well…it’s bread so it can really do no wrong. It is carby perfection, but Aldi might have just made it infinitely better with their star and tree-shaped brioche loaves. They look delicious!

The star-shaped loaf could also be a snowflake with the swirls and eight points, but whatever you call it, it’s bound to make your holiday meal that much more delicious. It also makes it easy to split into portions. Just break off a piece at each point. Or keep it all to yourself. No judgment here.

If you’re looking for a different shape, Aldi also has Christmas tree-shaped brioche loaf that looks equally delicious and beautiful.

The vanilla cream loaf has just as many swirls as the star and makes the tree look like it’s been through a winter storm (just more golden brown).

Since this one has a vanilla cream filling, save it for dessert or for Christmas morning breakfast.

Star and tree-shaped brioche loaves are at Aldi for Christmas 2020

Whether you choose the star-shape or the Christmas tree, both of these would be great for making french toast. Imagine dipping the vanilla cream one in eggs, frying it up, and then cutting it open to have the warm, sweet cream ooze out. Yum!

Whichever loaf you choose, they are both only $5.99 and available at most Aldi stores. But you’ll have to be quick because we’re close enough to the holidays that once they’re gone, they won’t be coming back until next year.
